Habitat: This Martin species will favor lowlands along the Caribbean and the Pacific. They are not found in dense forests and will favor towns and other inhabited areas, especially near water. Distribution: This species has been reported from Mexico to central Argentina. It is assumed that some bird present in northern Middle America will eventually migrate toward South America, but the migration range is not well defined yet. Natural History Notes: Gray-breasted Martins are gregarious birds that mainly feed on insects caught in flight. This bird will make its nest in crevices under roof houses. and in hollow trees. The call of the male consists of a gurgling sound like "chew-chew". Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 6.25 inches and 7.25 inches cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a small black bill, a forked-shaped tail and relatively broad wings. The male has a steel blue plumage on the above. The throat, breast and sides of the body are all gray-brown and the underparts are white. The female looks similar, except that the coloration is generally paler, especially on the throat.
