Habitat: Marine, demersal. Burrows in crushed coral or sand. Depth range 8 - 135 feet. Natural History Notes: Planktonivore. Normally maintain itself vertically six to eight inches above its burrow, tail down, revolving slowly, snapping at small organisms in the water. Male broods the eggs orally, deposits the egg mass in the burrow when comes out to feed. The male courts the female by swimming in an arched position with his fins spread towards her. Characteristics: Pale blue, yellowish head. Elongated soft dorsal, anal, caudal, and ventral fins. Long pelvic fins.
