Habitat: Lowland to medium elevation evergreen and semideciduous forests, to about 1500 m. Often found near creeks and streams in gallery forests. Distribution: Southern Mexico through Central America to most of northern South America, also Paraguay, Bolivia, southern Brazil. Natural History Notes: Guild 8: Highly Cluttered Space/Gleaning Frugivores (Kalko, et al., 1996). Roosts in small numbers in leaf tents. Most active at mid-canopy levels. Diet consists of small fruits, especially small figs. Reproduction is bimodal polyestry. Characteristics: Small. Forearm 31 Â 34 mm, Mb 6-11 gm. Dorsal pelage buff brown, hair tricolor, ventral pelage light gray.. Back stripe absent, indistinct facial stripes white, the upper pair intending to between ears. Ears and tragus trimmed in yellow. Tragus slightly serrated. Interfemoral membrane U-shaped, lightly fringed. Tail absent. Two pair of lower incisors.
