Habitat: Inhabit most clear water patch reef environments. Distribution: Florida, Caribbean Depth: 3 -110 ft. Characteristics: From Reef Coral Identification : Colonies form bushy clusters of tall, plume-like branches. Numerous short, slender, round branchlets extend from all sides of main branches. Small, closely set polyp apertures are scattered randomly on all sides of main and secondary branches. Apertures have small, lower shelf-like lips, giving the surface a somewhat rough texture. Most commonly purple, occasionally gay, and may be tinged with yellow. Colony height: 8 - 30 in.
