Habitat: This Tanager species can be found in clearings, shrubby areas and in residential areas in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica to northeastern Argentina and southern Brazil. Natural History Notes: The White-line Tanager is almost always found in pairs and will forage at low tree levels. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 6.75 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a pointed bluish-gray bill. The male as an overall black plumage with some white under wing-lines that are visible in flight. The female has a rufous brown plumage above and a more tawny brown coloration below.
