Habitat: The White hawk can be found in humid forests, forest borders and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from southern Mexico to Bolivia, central Brazil and the Guianas. Natural History Notes: The White Hawk feeds mainly on reptiles with some insects and mammals, caught in a sortie from a perch. This species is often seen soaring, and has a spectacular aerial courtship display. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 56 cm and 61 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The wings are broad and with a rounded shape and this bird has a fairly short tail. Its plumage is characteristic because it is entirely white. However, we can distinguish small marks on the primaries and secondaries and a black band on the tail.
