Habitat: The Yellow-breasted crake can be found in freshwater marshes and grassy areas near water sources. Distribution: This species has been reported from southern Mexico to northern Argentina and central Brazil and the Greater Antilles. Natural History Notes: This bird will be found walking and climbing along the aquatic vegetation. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species is 5.5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This small bird has a short dark gray bill and yellow legs. We can see a black crown and stripe passing through the eyes. Otherwise, the plumage is beige-brown on the above awith stripes of blakc and white. The throat and the belly are white and the sides of the neck as well as the breast are beige. The sides of the body, the flanks and the belly show large black bands.
