Habitat: You may see this species in open areas along the coastal lowlands, between the months of August to October and March to May. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in North America and migrate south to South America. Natural History Notes: The Cliff swallow feeds mostly on insects that it catch while flying. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 5 inches and 5.75 inches cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a steel blue plumage on the above with a beige forehead, a beige-gray collar around the hindneck and white stripes along the back. Then, the cheeks and the throat are chestnut colored, but we can distinguish a black patch on the throat. The underparts are grayish beige, becoming whitish toward the belly. The tail is brown and has a square shape at its tip.
