Polyp: Colonies irregularly branched, with some branches rising through hydrothecae; internodes straight, long and narrow. Hydrothecae on prominent hydrophores; no gonophoral polyp protruding. Reproduction: Fixed gonophores. Ecology and Distribution: Originally distributed in the North West Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, North Sea, and British Isles. Now found on the Caribbean coast of Panama. In Bocas del Toro, known in the vicinity of Manuguar Cay. Similar taxa: Campanulinidae. Bocas Species Database Distribution: Bonaire, Curaçao, Isla la Tortuga, Puerto Rico, and Belize. |
