Habitat: Common on dead or live coral, and on limestone pavement. Distribution: Jamaica, Belize, Colombia, and Venezuela. Characteristics: Thin encrusting (1-2 mm) boring sponge. Dark brown to black in color. Inhalant and exhalant papillae (0.7-3.7 mm wide, 1-2 mm high) partly fused, and a thin tissue layer, usually leaving scattered uncovered portions of the coral skeleton. Oscules (2-3 mm wide).
