Habitat: The Bobolink flies fairly high, but it will stop in clearings with grass and grassy fields in order to rest and forage on seeds and insects. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in North America and migrate south to south-central South America and passes via the West Indies and some via Middle America. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 6.5 inches and 7.5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a short brown bill in a shape of a cone and a graduated tail. When observed in Panama, this bird wears its nonbreeding plumage, which is also similar to that of the female. The nonbreeding plumage consists of brown-beige plumage on the part above and is characterized by the beige and gray stripes preent on the head. The part below is yellow, but with brown stripes on the sides of the body.
