Adult: Species description based on Duellman (2001). A medium-sized treefrog with a short, blunt snout (males to 43 mm, females to 46 mm). Dorsal: The dorsum is pale brown with various darker markings. The sides are dark blue with bright yellow spots. Ventral: The throat is white with some brown flecking. Ventral coloration grades from yellow to orange to red from the front to the rear of the underside. Concealed surfaces: The undersurfaces of the limbs, the groin, and the rear surfaces of the thighs are red. Eye: The eye is bronze with black reticulations. Extremities: The webbing between the hands and feet is bright red.
Habitat: Lower montane forest with high levels of rainfall between 830-910 m. Call: The calls are indistiguishable from those of Isthmohyla pseudopuma (Duellman 2001). Type locality: Río Changena, Bocas del Toro Province, Panamá, 830 meters
