Bocas Species Database Habitat: Found both on mangrove roots and on dead coral in Bocas del Toro. Distribution: Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, and Guyanas. Depth: 0.5-7.0 m Characteristics: Individuals (3-5 cm long) have a tough, wrinkled, brown, green or grayish tunic, with reddish siphons (and reddish and opaque body). Atrial siphon is halfway down the length of the body and each siphon has 4 lobes. Dorsal tubercle is a V shape that curves to the left at each point. Branchial basket has 4 folds per side with many longitudinal vessels inside the pharynx. The gut forms a closed loop with many endocarps within it. The numerous endocarps and gonads are embedded in body wall on either side. |
