Habitat: The urchin can be found in crevices or under rubble in rocky areas and coral reefs. Natural History Notes: In Panama, the reproductive cycle is annual, during the rainy season (April-December), population-wide, and not correlated with the lunar cycle. The species exhibits cryptic behavior. Depth: 0-40m Characteristics: Similar in general shape and size to E. lucunter. The spines are strong and sharply pointed. The spines and their basal muscles are reddish brown.
