Habitat: In habitat shallow to mid- range coral reefs and seagrass beds. Prefer brightly lit areas. Distribution: Caribbean, Bermuda, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Brasil. Depth: 15 - 75 ft. Characteristics: Massive-globular with large sharp conules (up to 5 mm high) regularly spaced (up to 13 mm apart). Membrane-bearing oscules (2-15 mm wide) usually grouped onto a depression on top of the sponge. Dark gray to black externally, tan internally.
