Habitat: The Yellow-billed Cacique will favor dense undergrowth of clearings and woodland borders in the lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from eastern Mexico to northern Venezuela and Bolivia. Natural History Notes: This bird is fairly hard to find because it rarely comes out in open areas and likes to stay hidden in dense vegetarion. However, you might see it foraging close to the ground in flowering fruiting trees. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between sexes. The male has a total length of 10 inches, whereas the female has a total length of 9 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This is characterized by a straight yellow-white or yellow-green bill and by the yellow iris. Regarding the plumage, this bird is uniformly black.
