Habitat: Can be found in open woodland, clearings and gardens. Distribution: This species has been reported from Southwestern Costa Rica to eastern Panama. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC) Characteristics: This species has a total length of 8.89 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The coloration pattern is similar for both sexes. This hummingbird species has a metallic green coloration on its upperparts, becoming more bronze toward on the lower back. The tail, throat and chest are glittering green, but the breast and the belly are brightly white. It is interesting to note that the specimens that were found in Chiriqui and Azuero show a greener lower back and a blue-black tail.
