Description: An alien shrub. Usually has multiple stems in dense clusters, no more than 2 meters tall. Leaves have conspicuous, parallel secondary veins, and the base of the leaf stalk is swollen, green, and cylindrical. Reproduction: Has green, papery, compound seed pods, nearly always present and easy to see. Distribution: A weed that grows in dense thickets along Pipeline Rd., never in the forest and seldom seen anywhere else in the area. Similar Species: Most people visiting Pipeline Rd. are curious to know what this plant is, so here we illustrate it. The odd green seed pods and leaves are distinctive, and the plant only seen along some of the forested roads in the area. |
