Habitat: Marine, reef-associated. Also found in a wide variety of habitats including sand, rock, marl, seagrass, sponge beds and mangrove shores. Depth range - 10 m. Natural History Notes: Territorial. Adults feed on algae, polychaetes, amphipods, foraminiferans and gastropods while juveniles feed on harpacticoid copepods, nemerteans and polychaetes. Characteristics: Adults : dark blue or brown above, yellowish below, yellowish tail. No saddle on top of caudal peduncle. More shallow-bodied than other members of the genus. Juveniles : yellow on the lower part of the body, dark spot near rear of dorsal fin.
