Habitat: Found in areas with silt and coral rubble (generally areas of low visibility). Distribution: Patchy distribution ranging from Florida to Uruguay. Natural History Notes: Shy of divers, retreats to shelter upon approach. Depth: 15 - 60 ft Characteristics: Cream colored with flecks of brown. Two horizontal brown lines running from the snout to mid-body. Large dark spot on anterior section of dorsal fin with 2+ smaller brown stops running posteriorly. White belly patch. Two dark spots on caudal peduncle (hence the common name).
