Depth: 5 - 25m Characteristics: Terminal phase: Blue midbody horizontal line separates a turquoise to green dorsal side and a pale blue underside. Distinctive features include: a black spot at the base of the tail, an orange streak on the centre of the tail and blue stripes on the head above and below the eye. Initial and juvenile phases: display a yellow brown back and a white underside. Intermediate stages also have a dark brown stripe from snout to tail and juvenile phase individuals have both a pale brown stripe below the dorsal fin and a black stripe running between the eyes and to the dorsal fin. Adult length 4 to 5.5 in., max. 7 in.
