Habitat: Usually found on mangrove roots in calm waters in Bocas del Toro, but some individuals were collected on polyethylene plates. Usually found hanging up side down from mangrove roots in large aggregations. Distribution: The geographical range includes Panama, the Caribbean, Bermudas and northeastern and southern Brazil. Depth: 0.5-1.0 m Characteristics: This solitary species has thick glossy tunic with few epibionts, such as hydroids or tube worms. The atrial siphon is almost half way down the dorsal side of the animal. There are bands of muscle irregularly displaced on the right side of the body wall. The dorsal lamina is smooth and there are around 90 simple tentacles in the oral siphon. In the branchial sac there are around 45 longitudinal vessels on each side. The intestinal loop forms a shaped curve to the left of the branchial sac. The gonads are located inside the intestinal loop and there are folds in the stomach wall.
