Habitat: This Waterthrush species favors forested and wooded streams in foothills and lower highlands. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern United States and migrate south from Mexico to Panama and in the West Indies. Natural History Notes: This bird is a terrestrial feeder and seek for insects, molluscs and crustaceans amongst the leaf litter. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 14 cm and 15.2 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a pointed brown bill with pink legs. The plumage above is brown and contrasts with the large white band above the eye. The throat is gray and the underparts are beige-whitish with black stripes on the breast and on the flanks and sides of the body. The tail is brown and beige below and shows a little forked shape toward the tip.
