Habitat: The chicken can adapt to many different habitats. It will mostly be found in the wild in clearings and open areas. In Panama, many of them are domisticated and raised on a farm or in backyards. Distribution: The chicken can be found everywhere in the world due to domestication. China is the country with the largest density of chiken encountered. Natural History Notes: The chicken is an omnivore. When they are in the wild, their diet can consist of seeds, insects, lezards and mice. A wild chicken can live up to 11 years. Chickens are gregarious birds and live together as a flock. They have a communal approach to the incubation of eggs and raising of young.Contrary to popular belief, roosters do not crow only at dawn, but may crow at any time of the day or night. Their crowing (a loud and sometimes shrill call) is a territorial signal to other roosters.
