Habitat: This species can be found in Panama in locally very humid western highlands, such as Cerro Pando and Fortuna in the region of Bocas del Toro. The species was recorded at altitudes between 900 and 1800m. Distribution: The species has been reported from Costa Rica and western Panama. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 8.26 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). Its beak is small (1.27 cm) and straight. The male has a green coloration on the above and shows a crown of feathers with black edges present on the side of the head. The tail is mostly white and we can distinguish two central pairs of black feathers. The female is similar to the male with the green above and the tail coloration, but the underparts are grayish.
