Habitat: This Flycatcher species can be found in clearings in mountains of western Panama. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica to western Panama. Natural History Notes: The Black-capped Flycatcher is an active bird that is usually seen alone when it does not breed. It feeds on insects, often taken in flight in short sallies from an open perch. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 10.8 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird is characterized by its prominent black cap that contrasts with the olive plumage above. We can also see a white ring around the eye and fine gray wing-bars. The throat is white, and the chest and the sides of the body are brownish, becoming pale yellow on the flanks.
