Habitat: The Azure-hooded jay will favor humid forest, forest borders and foothills habitats in the highlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from central Mexico to western Panama. Natural History Notes: This jay species is usually found in groups, flying in the upper tree levels. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 11 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a dark blue plumage all over the body. However, we can distinguish a paler blue crown on top of the head and on the nape. The forecrown, the sides of the head and the neck are black.
