Family: Centroderidae |
Bocas Species Database Distribution: The genus can probably be found worldwide, but the species is so far only known from Bocas del Toro. Characteristics: Species of Centroderes are recognized by the presence of a first trunk segment consisting of closed ring, followed by 10 segments consisting of a tergal and two sternal plates, combined with the presence of long ventrolateral spines on the first trunk segment and a long midventral terminal spine. The new species is recognized by these characters combined with the presence of short lateroventral tubules on trunk segments 2, 5, 7-9, and subdorsal tubules on segment 10, being conspicuously longer in males than in females. A description of the species is in progress, and it will be published together with a revision of the genus Centroderes. |
