This is the Costus maritimus form of Costus comosus, registered with the cultivar name 'Cliff Dweller'. It is found on the Pacific coastal bluffs of the Osa Peninsula and northern Golfo Dulce, growing only on the coast near sea level. It differs from more common forms of Costus comosus by having green bracts and appendages instead of red.
