Habitat: Found on mangrove roots and mangrove peat banks Distribution: Belize, Jamaica, Panamá. Characteristics: Massive (10-20 cm in diameter). Cream or light gray to dark brown externally (the color is from the cyanobacteria), tan internally. Consistency is pulpy and easily crumbled. Surface rough, and it may be wrinkled. Oscules (2-5 mm in diameter) when visible are aggregated. Notes: "Sick" mushy specimens due to extreme growth of cyanobacteria reported from Belize.
