Habitat: This Flycatcher species can be found in forest borders, second-growth woodland and gallery woodland in lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from southwestern Costa Rica to Peru and southern Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Black-tailed Flycatcher is an active bird that is rarely motionless and will catch insects while flying. This bird likes to be near streams. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 4.75 inches and 5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has the chest beige-olive and the tail black.
