Habitat: This species can be found in forests, second-growth woodland and forest borders in more humid lowlands. Distribution: This species was reported from eastern Mexico to Bolivia, northern Argentina and southern Brazil. Natural History Notes: This bird stays usually hidden for long periods in the foliage. Its diet is variate but usually consists of small reptiles, frogs and large insects. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 46 cm and 56 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The cere (base of the bill), the facial area as well as the legs are gray. The adult bird will show a plumage with a pale gray head, black upperparts and white underparts. The tail is black and shows two fine white bands and the tip white. The wings are large and rounded shaped and have a black coloration with white stripes on the flight feathers.
