Habitat: Often attached to rock or dead coral in seagrass beds and reef areas. Distribution: Florida, Bahamas, Greater Antilles, Lesser Antilles, Southern Caribbean, Western Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico. Characteristics: Thallus heavily calcified, forming clumps, ivory to pale pink or purple (Image 1). Branches cylindrical, 1-2 mm wide. Branching dichotomous. Joints (genicula) not swollen and rarely found at branching dichotomies (Image 2).
