Bocas Species Database Habitat: This species was found in moderately exposed reef to sheltered lagoons. Usually found living on upper reef-slopes, attached to rocky boulders, or scattered debris. It is not a common species. Distribution: Found living along the Santa Maria coast line (Caribbean coast of Columbia). Reported from South Florida to the West Indies and the Bermuda. Natural History Notes: Observed living attached to back-reef branching corals around the Bocas del Toro Marine station. Characteristics: Bractechlamys antillarum is a little smaller than 1 inch long and has a rather flat shape. The valves are thin and with a rather similar shape. We can distinguish 15 ribs with some space between them. The color pattern consists of yellow to pale orange and brown background, with some white spots. |
