Characteristics: From Reef Coral Identification (Humann 1993): "Colonies form single, long, whip-like stalks that taper slightly from base to tip. Bright orange to orange-red to red; polyps white. Colony height: 2 - 8 ft. Base diameter: 0.25 - 0.5 in."
