Adult: Species description based on Rafaelli (2007). A medium-sized salamander with a rather long tail (to 48 mm SVL). Dorsal: Dorsal surface uniform black. Ventral: Ventral surface gray with light spots. Eye: Iris golden with flecks of black.
Habitat: Humid, lowland forest below 600 m. Ecology: Bolitoglossa medemi is arboreal (Rafaelli 2007). Type locality: Finca Chibiguí, approximately 76° 30′ W, 6° 15′ N, on the Río Arquía, Departamento de Antioquia, Colombia. Elevation approximately 300 m (980 ft)
