Habitat: Reef-associated; marine; glides close to a hard or soft sea floor using an undulating motion of the body. Often lies partially covered on sandy sea floors. Distribution: Bastimentos Islands Natural History Notes: Feeds mainly on small fish but also on crustaceans and octopuses. Depth: 15 - 80m Characteristics: Body can be a range of shades of brown, can be paled or darkened for camoflage purposes, and is covered in bright blue rings. Concentration of blue markings on the head and further blue spots can be found on the fins. Eyes set diagonally. Adult length 6 - 15in., max. 18in.
