Habitat: Evergreen and semideciduous lowland forests, fruit groves. Tolerates second growth and disturbed habitats. Distribution: Mexico through Central America (especially Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica and Panama coast), to Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil; also Trinidad. Natural History Notes: Guild 8: Highly Cluttered Space/Gleaning Frugivores (Kalko, et. al., 1996). Feeds on small figs, Characteristics: Moderately small. Forearm 41-45, Mb 13 Â 20 gms. Dorsal pelage gray to gray brown, hair bicolor, pale at base, dorsal stripe present, extending to shoulders. Facial stripes prominent, upper stripe extends to back of ear, ear tinged with yellow or white. Tail membrane U-shaped, not fringed, tail absent. Upper inner incisors truncate, bilobed.
