Habitat: This species lives in tropical and subtropical salt marshes and estuaries. They usually build burrows made of mud. Natural History Notes: Metasesarma rubripes, like other crab species, are known to be herbivorous. A study conducted by Fischer et al. (1997), showed that this species feeds on bromeliad flowers and several specimens have been found on the inflorescences.
