Bocas Species Database Habitat: This species favors habitats such as rocky bottom areas and tide pools; intertidal and shallow subtidal. Distribution: This species was first reported in Brazil. However, its range now extends to the Caribbean. Depth: 0-25 m Characteristics: This shrimp species has a straight rostrum (foremost extension of the carapace) and we can distinguish 6-7teeth on the dorsal part of the animal. The eyes are large, reaching only halfway to the medio-dorsal margin of rostrum. The body is semi-transparent with large, transerve, oblique and longitudinal red bands. The tail, composed of the telson and the uropods, is semi-translucent or pinkish. The eggs are greenish. |
