Natural History Notes: This species is mainly nocturnal. Depth: 1-15 m Characteristics: The Batwing coral crab is the largest crab present in the Caribbean, with a carapace width of up to 15 cm. This species can be easily recognized by its smooth and heavy carapace and by the absence of teeth, except for a small one on the right side of the body. This species has an orange-red background with white, yellow and bright red spots or fine lines. The coloration is darker on the tip of the fngers. |
