Habitat: This species lives among corals. Distribution: This species has been reported from South Carolina to Brazil. Natural History Notes: It is a commensal crab, but not obligate to one coral species. It was shown that it can feed on coral mucus. Characteristics: This small crab has an average carapace length of 8.2 mm for the males and the females are sligthly larger, with a mean carapace length of 8.4 mm. The carapace has a brown and cream coloration. This crab uses the second maxillipeds to remove the food from the water.
