Habitat: This Vireo species will often breed in lighter woodland, shrubby clearings, coastal mangroves and in gardens in the lowlands. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds from southern Texas and Mexico to Panama and those birds will migrate to the Amazon basin in South America during the non breeding season. Natural History Notes: The Yellow-Green Vireo is a common bird of Panama and in fact, it is one of the most numerous and widespread birds living in the open and semiopen country along the Pacific side. This bird feeds on insects caught from the tree foliage, and will favor caterpillars and beetles. it also eats small fruits, including mistletoe berries. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 13.3 cm and 15.2 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a long flat bill and a red iris. The plumage on the above is olive, with a grayer coloration on the crown and a white or gray stripe above the eye (superciliary). There may also be some gray stripes on the part above, but not always. Then, the part below is whitish, with a characteristic yellow-green coloration on the sides of the body, the flanks and the under tail-coverts.
