Habitat: You will find the Mangrove Swallow almost always near water, in semiopen to open areas such as mangroves, ponds, clearings with a river nearby. Distribution: This species has been reported from Mexico to eastern Panama and northwestern Peru. Natural History Notes: This Swallow species, like the other birds of this family, are usually seen in groups. It will be perched on a low leveled branch. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 4.5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird is characterized by a glossy greenish to steel blue plumage on the above, with a fine white stripe above the eye and a white rump. The part below is all white. The immature bird will look similar except that the coloration will be grayer.
