Habitat: The Sora usuallt favors freshwater marshes and damp grassy areas. Distribution: This species breeds in North America and migrate south during winter from southern United States to central Peru and Guyana. Natural History Notes: Soras forage while walking or swimming. They are omnivores, eating seeds, insects and snails. This bird is more heard then seen. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this varies between 8 inches and 9 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a short, heavy yellow bill and green legs. This species can be characterized by the black patches present on the face and on the throat. Then, the plumage is brown on thr above with stripes of black and white. Then, the sides of the well as well as the underparts are gray. The sides of the underparts and the flanks are stripped black and white.
