Habitat: This Manakin species can be found in undergrowth of forest borders, second-growth woodland and regenerating clearings, in the lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from southwestern Costa Rica and Pacific western Panama. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 9.5 cm and 10.1 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a fairly long, slightly decurved black bill and orange legs. The male is characterized by an orange collar on the throat that extend toward the upper part of the back. Then, the lower underparts are yellow and the tail is olive brown. THe plumage above is black with black wings. The female has a golden olive coloration on the above and a yellower coloration on the above.
