Habitat: This woodhaunter species will favor lower growth of humid forests in the lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from Nicaragua to southern Peru and western Brazil. Natural History Notes: This species is usually observed alone or in pairs. Its call consists of a repetitive series of 5 to 7 fast notes "kip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip". Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 16 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a fairly long, straight bill. The plumage is mostly brown above with fine beige stripes on the head and becoming larger on the hindneck and the upper part of the back. Then, the wings, rump and tail are all chestnut colored. The throat is beige and the feathers have their edges olive colored. The underparts are beige-olive with fine beige stripes on the breast.
