Panama, Veraguas, Alto de Piedra, vincinity of Santa Fe along ridge which extends to summit. Trail begins from edge of a plantation along teh road less than 1 km from the Escuela Circlo Alto de Piedra, on road to north going to Rio San Luis.

Terrestrial; internodes to 6 cm diam.; cataphylls sharply 2-ribbed, persisting intact with pale brown, glossy epipdermis, eventually fibrous at base; petioles obtusely sulcate at base, D-shaped, otherwise with spreading, erect margins, firm semiglossy, conspiuously bicolorous; midrib flat and paler above, convex and paler below; primary lateral veins below; minor veins distinct, fine, darker than surface; inflorescences 2 per axils, immature; peduncel coarsely white streaked at apex; spathe medium green, slightly darker and white short-lineate on blade outside; tube dark maroon within, suffused upward onto blade; blade greenish-white near apex.
